MAY

MONMOUTH COUNTY AUDUBON SOCIETY/2010 TED ENGBERG CONSERVATION SCHOLARSHIP – Applicant must be a Monmouth County resident, graduating from a Monmouth County high school in June 2010; accepted at a four-year college/university for the fall of 2010; majoring in a conservation related field. NEW JERSEY STATE COUNCIL COLUMBIETTES – Candidate must be a female high school senior, a Catholic in good standing, show evidence of community involvement in addition to any required involvement for graduation. Application is available in the guidance office. Completed applications must be returned to the guidance counselor by April 26, 2010.

PRINCETON AREA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION/GLAZIER SCHOLARSHIP - Applicant must have a parent who has been or is afflicted with cancer, or must be battling cancer him/herself; must be graduating from a high school in either Ocean or Monmouth County; must be accepted as a full time student at an accredited college, university or vocational school. Other factors include financial need, academic excellence, community service, extracurricular activities, leadership and work experience. XX OLYMPIAD MEMORIAL AWARD – Awarded by the Monmouth-Ocean County Council of the Jewish War Veterans of the USA to an outstanding scholar-athlete. The award honors the memory of the Israeli Olympic team members who were slain at the XX Olympics in Munich, Germany in 1972. The competition is non-sectarian, and the sole criterion is that the student be a high school senior in the Monmouth-Ocean counties area. BROOKDALE COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOUNDATION/ALUMNI ASSN – Offer the following scholarships to seniors graduating from a Monmouth County high school who plan to attend Brookdale Community College in the fall of 2008:

·        The T. J. Bruno Memorial Scholarship for Students with Disabilities

·        The Officer Kenneth F. Tietjen Memorial Scholarship

·        The Wilbur Ray Memorial Scholarship

·        The Brookdale Community College Alumni Association Youth Opportunity Scholarship

·        Buck Smith Scholarship

AFRICAN AMERICAN ARTS AND HERITAGE SCHOLARSHIP – Essay, transcript, letter of recommendation and photograph required. Applications are available in the guidance office.

THE DONALD AND ITASKER THORNTON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP - Provides one or more one-year educational scholarship(s) to deserving young females of color. GPA of C+ or better; essay required. Complete information and applications are available in the guidance office.

MIDDLETOWN EAGLES POP WARNER SCHOLARSHIP – One male and one female high school senior eligible to receive a $500 scholarship based on participation in the Middletown Eagles Pop Warner program. Application is available in the guidance office.

JON M. PRITSCH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – Golf scholarships are available to students within the state of New Jersey, who have played golf as a member of their high school team, are interested in a golf-related career, and qualify for admission to an accredited undergraduate college/university in the US. Applications are available in the guidance office. Completed applications must be received by the deadline date.

NATIONAL KITCHEN & BATH ASSOCIATION – NORTHERN NJ CHAPTER – Three one-time scholarships of $1500 will be awarded to students who will attend college or a trade/business/professional school to further their marketability in the Design community. Application requirements include an essay, transcript and letter of recommendation. Details and application are available in the guidance office. Application must be received by 5:00 p.m. on the deadline date.

NEWMAN SPRINGS DENTAL CARE HEALTHCARE SCHOLARSHIP – Open to Middletown high school seniors planning a career in healthcare. Essay required. Details are available in the guidance office.

B.DAVIS SCHOLARSHIP – Application requires an essay of less than 1,000 words on the following topic:  “Describe the three characteristics of leadership you value most. Discuss whether you believe you possess some or all of these qualities, and describe an experience where you developed and/or demonstrated some or all of these traits.” Submission must be sent by email to awards@studentawardsearch.com

JERSEY COAST SHARK ANGLERS/RIVIERA BEACH BOAT CLUB SCHOLARSHIP Offering a one-time award of a minimum of $1500 to an Ocean or Monmouth County public high school senior whose intended major in college leads to a degree in Marine Biology, Oceanography, or Environmental Sciences. Criteria also include academic record, three letters of recommendation and essay. Details and application are available in the guidance office.

MASTER GARDENERS OF MONMOUTH COUNTY SCHOLARSHIP – Applicant must be a resident of Monmouth County who has demonstrated an interest in horticulture, and who plans to enroll in a horticulture program at a New Jersey college or university for the fall semester of 2010. Also required are a high school transcript and two letters of recommendation. Applications and details are available in the guidance office. Application must be received by deadline date.
