National Week of Respect

On Wednesday, October 15th, in conjunction with the National Week of Respect, High School North Civic Leaders facilitated a moving assembly program centered on the power of words and the effect that they can have on others. As part of the program, our freshman students viewed a movie that highlighted the impact that students can have on one another in a school setting. After the completion of the movie, the students broke into small groups with their Civic Leaders to discuss the powerful message that was conveyed. The program concluded with a nationally recognized "I am Loving and Capable" activity that further solidified the significance of the overall program for High School North's 9th grade students.

  •  Nishan Patel went to Stoke Mandeville in the United Kingdom over the summer as a member of the junior USA team for track. He competed in the 100, 200, 400, 800, 1500 meters and the 4x1 relay.  He was the only person who was a one arm wheelchair racer and that placed him at a disadvantage in most of the races, but he brought his North pride and earned his first Junior Paralympic medal for the 4x1 relay.
