Bullying
Detective David L. D’Amico with the Bias Crimes and Community Relations Unit of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office discussed the topics of bullying, harassment and the prevention of violence in our schools this month. Students were given instructions on what makes a bully and strategies on what to do should they feel bullied, harassed or unsafe in school for any reason. One of the most important messages we convey to our students is that if they feel unsafe, or if they witness an act of violence or hear of a potential danger in our school, it is their responsibility and duty to report it. Unfortunately, many students are hesitant to do this for a variety of reasons. I urge you to talk with your children and encourage them to report anything that makes them feel unsafe at school. Parents are also encouraged to contact us if you have a safety concern. Working together we can continue to keep Bayshore a school in which children can learn in a safe, secure environment.
