Physical Education What is expected of me in Physical Education? Requirements for Physical Education:1.) arrive on time to the locker room (3 minutes to get to your next class) 2.) Lock up all personal property in a locker with the lock provided by the school 3.) Arrive on time to the gym from the locker room (5 minutes to change) 4.) A complete change of clothes (personal hygiene) a.) sneakers (no thick soles) - safety b.) shorts (not too short or baggy) sweat pants or warm-up pants c.) t-shirt (no sleeveless shirts or blouses, mesh shirts must be worn over a t-shirt, no bare midriff shirts) d.) warm-up jacket or sweatshirt for cool days (the student cannot wear his or her coat to gym) 5.) Acceptable behavior in the locker room (no fooling around at any time) 6.) Acceptable behavior in the gym at all times (no fooling around at any time) 7.) Exercise and stretching with the class before an activity or game is required 8.) Participation in the activity is required. (no standing around talking, stay active) 9.) Good sportsmanship 10.) Good attitude 11.) No jewelry of any kind can be worn during class. a.) no rings b.) no necklaces of any kind (metal, plastic, cloth etc.) c.) no bracelets of any kind (metal, plastic, cloth etc.) d.) no earrings (new earrings must be reported to the nurse using the form provided by the nurse, then the instructions must be followed) 12.) Gum chewing is not allowed in school. 13.)You must come to class prepared to participate. Please see your teacher after you have dressed for gym with any excuses or problems. 14.) A parent can excuse a student from Physical Education for one day. If a student needs to be excused from Physical Education for longer than one day, a written doctor's note must be filed in the Health Office. Grades:A+ - A student can obtain a A+ by being prepared every day, showing an exceptional attitude, showing outstanding sportsmanship, trying his or her best in whichever activity we are participating in, helping other students with the activity and passing all five of the fitnessgram tests.
A – A student can obtain a grade of A by being prepared every day, showing a good attitude, showing good sportsmanship, trying his or her best in whichever activity we are participating in, helping other students with the activity and passing all five of the fitnessgram tests.
B+ - A student can obtain a grade of B+ by being prepared every day but 1, (or the equivalent of 1 unprepared) showing a good attitude, showing good sportsmanship, trying his or her best in whichever activity we are participating in, and passing at least four of the five fitnessgram tests. over
B - A student can obtain a grade of B by being prepared every day but 2, (or the equivalent of 2 unprepareds) showing a good attitude, showing good sportsmanship, trying his or her best in whichever activity we are participating in, helping other students with the activity and passing at least four of the five fitnessgram tests.
C+ - A student can obtain a grade of C+ by being prepared every day but 3, (or the equivalent of 3 unprepareds) showing a good attitude, showing good sportsmanship, trying his or her best in whichever activity we are participating in and passing at least three of the five fitnessgram tests.
C - A student can obtain a grade of C by being prepared every day but 4, (or the equivalent of 4 unprepareds) showing a good attitude, showing good sportsmanship, trying his or her best in whichever activity we are participating in, and passing at least three of the five fitnessgram tests.
D - A student can obtain a grade of D by being prepared every day but 5 (or the equivalent of 5 unprepareds), showing a good attitude, showing good sportsmanship, trying his or her best in whichever activity we are participating in, and passing at least two of the five fitnessgram tests.
F – A student will receive a failing grade if he/she is unprepared 6 or more times, or the equivalent of 6 unprepareds. This is based on approximately 44 days of Physical Education per marking period.
The students must meet the above Physical Education requirements or they will lose points off their grade. Points taken off their grade can accumulate to the equivalent of one or more unprepareds and may result in a low grade or failure.
Extra credit points can be obtained by putting an extra effort out during our walking program or our fitness day.
