King Penguin

Despite the name, King penguins are not the giants of all penguins; those are the Emperor penguins.

Height: 36 inches.

Where it lives: Islands of the sub-Antarctic.

30 to 40 pounds.

Description:
They have a bright orange collar.

They have a very long orange beak.

Interesting facts:
It is the second largest penguin.

It was once hunted by man for its oil.

The eggs are incubated (kept warm) on its father's feet.

They lay eggs every other year.

 

 

Colonies of King Penguins can be very large.
