Principal’s Memo Back to HOME PAGE Well, the Holiday Season is upon us! We have made it through the first marking period of the 2009-2010 school year, and we are preparing for the winter months at Fairview Elementary School. The children have been working extremely hard, and have already accomplished a great deal. I am impressed by the work ethic and positive attitudes of our students on a daily basis. We are blessed with a really wonderful student population and an exemplary teaching staff. Our primary educational goal at Fairview continues to focus on ensuring that your children gain the skills necessary to be successful students. Our classrooms are bustling with activity, and we are setting high expectations for the students. Guided reading, center-based activities, implementation of technology, and math and science work that promotes higher-level thinking are just some of the ways we are helping the children excel. It should be noted that Fairview is now equipped with wireless Internet capability throughout the building. I am proud to announce that the construction of Fairview’s New Library is well underway. Everyone involved has been working hard to create a library that will meet and exceed the needs of our students. I am anxiously awaiting the opening of this educational space sometime in early 2010. I would like to thank the PTO and all of the families for their patience and support. The Parent Teacher Organization at Fairview continues to play an invaluable role. The newly implemented “Market Days” have been successful, and we are all anxiously awaiting the official kick-off of the “Calendar Raffle”. By the time everyone reads this we will have all enjoyed Fairview’s performance of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Please be sure to mark the following upcoming events on your calendar: Holiday Gift Shoppe - December 8th, 9th, 10th Winter Concert – December 16th Science Fair – January 20th I hope everyone has a happy and healthy Holiday Season, and that the New Year finds us all well. Sincerely, Matthew Kirkpatrick Principal, Fairview Elementary
