Curriculum

Harmony School, built in 1961, is a Kindergarten through 5th grade school. Harmony offers a comprehensive academic program that includes full day Kindergarten, regular education and special education classes.
Harmony is one of the largest of the twelve elementary schools in the Middletown Township school district.

Our staff believes that our mission is to have each child develop a strong self-image, learn to respect others,
and become independent thinkers.  We believe that every child can and should excel in school.

Harmony’s philosophy is summed up through this quote from Donald O. Clifton:

Our greatest contribution is to be sure there is a teacher in every classroom who cares
that every student every day learns and grows and feels like a real human being.”

Our school is committed to academic excellence, respect for lifetime learning, the
value of individual effort, and the partnership of parents and teachers.
There is no tolerance for bullying, biased or violent behaviors at Harmony School.

All students in grades Kindergarten through 5 will receive instruction in art, music, physical education, health, computer technology and Spanish.  Our grade level teachers work in concert with one another to provide an individualized teaching experience while preserving symmetry in major assignments and course content. Harmony and the school district adhere to the state IDEAL and LEADS models for the delivery of instruction in literacy and social studies, integrate the Investigations approach into the Math program, incorporate textbook and hands on science lessons and embrace the TPR philosophy and techniques for our Spanish program.
You can find a concise explanation of both the IDEAL and LEADS strategies on the district website at www.middletownk12.org.
You are encouraged to access Harmony’s website through

We value you and your child.
Join us in creating an atmosphere of academic excellence.
