An important part of our school day is reciting the following “Peace Pledge” every morning at the end of announcements:
“We pledge to be peacemakers at all times and to treat others with respect.”
In addition, the staff members have been trained by the NJ Bar Association to mediate peer conflicts. The teachers conference with the students to remind them about the Win/Win guidelines and provide opportunities for them to role play. They are used as a reference and the staff members incorporate them into their daily classroom management techniques. These guidelines are posted in every classroom. The program continues to be very effective!
