Special Committees

Regular
Beautification:
Volunteers work on various projects throughout the year to beautify
and help clean up our school grounds.
Bottlecappers:
Chairperson arranges for high school students (known as Bottlecappers)
to
visit the 3rd and 4th graders twice a year. The program at the 3rd
grade level focuses on tobacco use. The program at the 4th grade
level focuses on the broad picture of drug and alcohol abuse and
making responsible choices. No additional volunteers are necessary.
By-laws: The
by-laws are the rules by which we run our PTA. The chairperson is
responsible for reviewing our PTA’s by-laws every three years. No
additional volunteers are necessary.
Class Representatives:
Two class representatives are chosen by lottery for each
class. These volunteers work hand in hand with the classroom
teacher and help organize volunteers for trips, celebrations and
other events. Class Representatives must be available during school
hours as they are responsible for contacting parents in the event of
an emergency early dismissal.
Educational Enrichment:
This committee is responsible for planning assemblies,
guest speakers, authors and hands on activities throughout the year
to enhance our student’s learning experience. The committee will
work closely with our PTA Teacher Representatives in planning the
events.
Family Fun: Volunteers organize and run several fun events
during the year for the children and their families after school
and/or Friday evenings (dances, BINGO, movie night, etc.)
Fingerprinting: Students are voluntarily fingerprinted and the fingerprint cards with
information are sent home.
Legislative/ Budget Awareness (BAC): Volunteers encourage parents to vote during the school
budget elections. They also inform parents of voting options as well
as report the BAC sanctioned explanation of the BOE budget to the
PTA.
Library/ Read Aloud:
Volunteers assist students with book selections and check books in
and out during scheduled library times.
Read Aloud
volunteers go
into the library on a scheduled basis for Grades K-3 and read
stories aloud during the scheduled library time.
Lincroft News Network (LNN): News program anchored by 5th graders for the school.
Membership: Chairperson
collects PTA membership forms, submits PTA membership dues and
distributes PTA membership cards. No additional volunteers are
needed.
Nominating Committee: Committee members are responsible for helping recruit
volunteers for the PTA Executive Board positions in April as well
as open committee chair positions.
PIC:
(Parent Information Council) Chairpersons are responsible for
attending District PIC meetings and informing members at PTA
meetings.
Publicity: Volunteers
are responsible for taking photographs of PTA and school events for
our Memory Book. Also, articles are written about various PTA and
school events and submitted to local newspapers.
Read Across America: This
national event takes place during the first week of March.
Volunteers help run activities planned for students which encourage
and build an excitement for reading.
Reading is Fun (RIF):
Volunteers help reward students for participating in our RIF
program. They receive school store coupons for each page completed.
They also help keep track of the number of books read by the
students.
School Sign: Chairperson
posts important information on the marquee in front of the
school. No additional volunteers are needed.
Teacher Appreciation Week:
Volunteers are needed in preparation of the week’s activities.
Baking, cooking, serving, set-up, etc. are some of the tasks
involved in showing our appreciation to our Lincroft staff.
Special
Career Day:
A
special day held for the 4th and 5th graders
where volunteers from different professions come and talk to the
students about their career. Volunteers organize the day.
Fifth Grade Event:
Held in June, this is a special event to wish the fifth grade
students and their parents well as they leave Lincroft Elementary
School. Volunteers help with decorations, entertainment and food.
Fun Day:
Students participate in outdoor games and other fun activities.
Volunteers are needed for running games, set-up, assisting students,
etc.
Holiday Art Happening:
This event is held in December and gives students an opportunity to
make personalized gifts for their families. Volunteers help in
preparing materials as well as assist students on the day of the
event.
Memory Book:
Committee
consists of two fifth grade students per class selected by lottery
who help make design decisions for the Lincroft Elementary School
Yearbook.
Chair people
are responsible for collecting orders and act as a liaison between
the committee and memory book company.
Theater Week:
This is a week-long after school theater program for our 4th
and 5th graders. Volunteers are responsible for assisting
throughout the week as well as the final performance held on a
Friday evening.
Variety Show:
This event gives students the opportunity to exhibit their talents.
Volunteers are needed to assist with the student acts, help behind
the stage and organize the event. |
