WENDY’S HIGH SCHOOL HEISMAN AWARD – “Eligibility is limited to men and women entering their senior year of high school in the 2008-09 academic year who have at least a B grade average and participate in at least one of the 33 sports officially sanctioned by the National Federation of State High Schools.” Please come to the guidance office for complete information.

NATIONAL FOUNDATION FOR ADVANCEMENT IN THE ARTS – Applicant must be a high school senior in the 2008-09 school year and a US citizen or permanent resident. All registrations must be filed online. Program details are available at www.nfaa.org

MEYERHOFF SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM/UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND – Open to all high achieving high school seniors who plan to pursue undergraduate studies in Science, Technology, Engineering and /or Mathematics (STEM). To be eligible for the program, students must have at least a “B” average in college-preparatory mathematics and science courses, outstanding SAT scores, and a genuine interest in science and the advancement of underrepresented students in STEM fields. See your counselor to self-nominate.

HORATIO ALGER ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP – Applicant must be high school senior graduating in June 2009, and planning to enter a college in the US in the fall to pursue a bachelor’s degree. Must be US citizen or permanent resident, have a minimum GPA of 2.0, and be in critical financial need (copy of parent/guardian federal tax return required.) Application must be submitted online at www.horatioalger.org/scholarships

COCA-COLA SCHOLARS FOUNDATION - Coca-Cola Scholarships totaling $3 million will be awarded to 250 eligible high school seniors. Applicants are expected to graduate in the school year in which they apply, meet one of eight citizenship categories, and plan to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution. Applicants are evaluated on demonstrated leadership in school, commitment to community, academic achievement and part-time employment. Applications must be made online at www.coca-colascholars.org before October 31, 2008. No paper applications will be accepted.

PRUDENTIAL SPIRIT OF COMMUNITY AWARDS – Open to all students who have excelled in community service activities over the past year. See your counselor to self-nominate. Program details are available at www.prudential.com/spirit. Online application instructions are available in the guidance office.

RON BROWN SCHOLAR PROGRAM - This program awards scholarships to academically talented, highly motivated African-American students who are seniors in high school and plan to pursue undergraduate degrees full-time. Students must be US citizens or hold permanent resident visa cards.

There are two application deadlines: November 1st to be considered for the Ron Brown Scholar Program and a select and limited number of additional scholarships; January 9th to be considered for the Ron Brown Scholar Program only. See your counselor for details, or visit www.ronbrown.org

MONMOUTH COUNTY COTILLION COMMITTEE SCHOLARSHIP BALL – Open to high school students who have maintained an average of 80 or equivalent in all core subjects. SAE ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - Applicant must be a high school senior at the date of application (Sept. 1-Dec. 1); intend to earn a degree in engineering or a related science (refer to individual scholarship descriptions. Examples of related science include math, chemistry, physics, biology, technologies, computer science); be a citizen of the United States at the time of application (Permanent Resident not applicable); meet minimum requirements with regard to grade point average, SAT and/or ACT scores as outlined in the individual requirements of each scholarship. NEW JERSEY SOCIETY OF CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTSOpen to all New Jersey college-bound high school seniors who plan to pursue a career in accounting. Scholarships will be awarded based on academic standing, standardized test scores, an essay and performance at a personal interview. Five-year awards range in value of up to $8,500. GATES MILLENNIUM SCHOLARS PROGRAM – Nominees must be African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American, or Hispanic American; must be citizen/legal permanent resident or national of the US; must have cumulative GPA of 3.3/4.0, or a GED; must have demonstrated leadership abilities; must meet Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria.
