The
State Department of Education has endorsed the premises of providing a variety
of programs to high school students, some of which provide college credit.
These programs are normally open to seniors who have passed the HSPA.
Below are two new programs. One is strictly for seniors and the other is
for students in grades 9 - 12.
ARTS HIGH SCHOOL*
Students in grade 9 - 12 may satisfy their visual and performing arts
requirement by completing Arts High School courses. Students who pass an
audition, may participate in one of the following areas: creative writing,
vocal music, theatre arts, dance or visual arts. Students attend a
three-hour class from 1:30 pm - 5:00 pm one per week for 14 weeks at Sandy
Hook. Transportation will be provided. For a fee, students can
receive 3 Brookdale credits. See your guidance counselor for additional
information.
(*pending Board of Education approval and support of the budget)
DUAL ENROLLMENT PROGRAM AT BROOKDALE COMMUNITY COLLEGE*
Qualified high
school seniors can earn up to 12 Brookdale credits by enrolling in a Dual
Enrollment Program at Brookdale Community College. To participate in
this program, students entering their senior year must have passed the HSPA in
their junior year. They should have also earned 105 credits toward
graduation. Credits earned through the dual enrollment can be used
towards degree requirements at Brookdale and/or, depending on the program of
study, transferred to a four-year college or university. Students must
provide their own transportation to Brookdale. Tuition is paid by the
student. For more information, contact your guidance counselor.

ARTICULATION PROGRAM
FOR BUSINESS
An articulation program with Brookdale Community College allows
select business computer courses to be taken for college credit. Upon
successful completion of the course and an examination administered by
Brookdale Community College, credit will be granted when the student
matriculates at the college and completes 12 credits.
