     Desk Top Publishing..................................Grades 9 - 12

This course introduces the student to the history, procedures, processes, materials and equipment of graphic communications.  Experiences are provided in the design, layout, production and evaluation of visual communications material.  Skills in lettering, drawing, composition, and paste-up are stressed as well as the use of photographic equipment.  Proper planning and production techniques are also stressed.  Student notebook / portfolios are required upon completion of each marking period.  In addition, computer composition is covered in depth.  This work is done using PC computer systems with a variety of software including Microsoft Word, Adobe PageMaker, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.

      Advanced Desk Top Publishing......................Grades 10 - 12

This course builds upon the skills gained in Desk Top Publishing.  Emphasis is placed upon problem solving and the selection and use of proper materials and methods for each communication need.  The student will complete in-depth studies of specific techniques and will produce examples of proper application through individual and group projects.  In addition, computer composition is continued in depth.  All computer work is done using PC computer systems with a variety of software including Microsoft Word, Adobe PageMaker, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
Prerequisite: Desk Top Publishing

      Scaled Aviation Technology...........................Grades 9 - 12

This course will give instruction in areas including blueprint reading, principles of flight, robotics, electronics, basic engines, and related areas of study.  There will be hands on experience through actual construction of radio-controlled flying model planes.

      Photography  ....................................................Grades 9-12

Through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on experience, students will learn the principles of photography.  The course content will include photographic composition, technical skills necessary to successfully use traditional 35mm cameras, digital cameras, digitizing hardware and software, and techniques for exposing and printing photographs.  Students will also learn "digital darkroom" techniques through the use of Adobe Photoshop.

     Architecture and Spatial Design Semester .(Half-year course).......Grades 10 - 12

This course is designed to introduce students to the field of architecture and the concepts related to residential design.  Both the outside appearance and the interior atmosphere of the home will be addressed.  Students will explore architectural types and styles of homes, construction material choices, structural considerations, and the effect of spatial and lighting strategies in the interior of the home.  Through the development of drawings and using a combination of software and drawing instruments, the student will design additions and alterations to existing homes as well as experience the design process in the creation of plans for a simple residence.

     Technical Drawing  / C.A.D. (Computer Assisted Design).....................Grades 9 - 12

This course introduces students to the study of drafting as the language of industry.  Students will gain skills and knowledge in freehand sketching, lettering, orthographic projection, dimensioning, and pictorial drawing.  This course utilizes both board drafting and Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) techniques.  Software to be used is Auto Cad.

     Advanced Technical Drawing / C.A.D. (Computer Assisted Design) ....Grades 10 - 12

Students are offered the opportunity to learn advanced techniques and practices of both board drafting and Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) techniques.  Students are provided with an exposure to the introductory skills and techniques of architectural drafting.  There are three tiers at the advanced level:  Pre-architecture, Industrial Design and 3-D Modeling, and architecture.  Students will have the opportunity to take this course three times in order to explore each of these areas.
