Plans for the week of December 4 to 8, 2006

This week we will finish reading John Steinbeck’s Depression-era short novel, Of Mice and Men. We will predict upcoming events in the novel and discuss the themes of hope and loneliness. We will begin to watch Gary Sinise’s 1992 film , Of Mice and Men.

Monday – December 4, 2006

Go over the plans for the week. Continue the Predicting and Validating Strategy Chart—Will Lennie and George ever achieve their American Dream? Complete Chapter 3 and begin to read Chapter 4.

Homework: 

Tuesday – December 5, 2006-Viewpoint Meeting

On The Dream handout, fill in the boxes concerning George, Lennie, and Candy. Continue to read.

Homework:  Fill in the Underdog handout concerning the characters in  Of Mice and Men. You must use your book!

 

Wednesday – December 6, 2006

Begin to watch the film Of Mice and Men.

Homework:  Write one paragraph: Describe a time when you were very homesick. Explain the circumstances and what that felt like.

Finish reading Of Mice and Men.
