Plans for the week of January 8, 2007

This week on Manners Monday will discuss the class system in America, and how to better ourselves by keeping New Years Resolutions.

We will begin to read Arthur Miller’s 1949 Pulitzer Prize winning play, “Death of a Salesman.” We will add to our Works Read Chart, begin our Book/Exam notes and create an Internal/External Conflict Chart for the play.

 

Monday –January 8, 2007-Manners Monday

Review the plans for the week.

Discuss class in America—how are behaviors and habits perceived in light of our perception of class. Why make resolutions and how can we keep them?

Homework: Go on the website www.Joe’sGoals.com. Sign on and create a logbook that includes 3 specific goals. Print out and bring in by Wednesday for a homework credit.

 

Tuesday – January 9, 2007-Viewpoint Meeting

Add to our Works Read Chart.  HSPA review. Finish reading the Student Preparation information and begin to work on HSPA Packet 1.

Homework: Homework to be announced. Review the HSPA booklet with your parents.

 

Wednesday– January 10, 2007-

Fill in book cards and page 1 of Book/Exam Notes for Arthur Miller’s 1949 Pulitzer Prize winning play, “Death of a Salesman.” Assign roles for the reading of the play this week. Discuss different types of sales jobs.

Homework: Describe a situation when you or someone you know had to sell something for money.

 

Thursday– January 11, 2007

Read the brief biography of Arthur Miller (book, third unnumbered page.) Begin to read aloud “The Death of a Salesman.”

Homework: Fill in a conflict for Willy Loman on the 4 column Internal/External Conflict Chart, but leave the resolution column blank till later.

 

Friday-- January 12, 2007

Continue to read aloud “The Death of a Salesman.”

Homework: Fill in a conflict for Biff Loman on the 4 column Internal/External Conflict Chart but leave the resolution column blank till later.
