We will have a unit test on Night. If you have not borrowed a DVD yet, please plan to do so one night this week. We will continue our discussion about the Holocaust, view some scenes from feature films about the Holocaust, and have a benchmark lesson to present Holocaust posters from Yad Vashem, the Israeli Institute for Holocaust Remembrance. Participate in presenting and evaluating student projects using the Presentation Rubric. Assess your progress at the end of the week.
Monday –March 19, 2007 Hand in you Interactive bookmark. Read about the current genocide in Darfur in North’s own Lion’s Roar newspaper and answer Quiz Questions. Homework: Sign out a book or film. Read and view. Prepare for your Project Presentation.
Tuesday – March 20, 2007– COMPUTER LAB Review Plans for the Week. Review Project Presentation Rubric and your Project Specifications sheet. In the Computer Lab, select and view an online exhibit from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum website http://www.ushmm.org/museum/exhibit/online/ Explore the website for more ideas for your project. Try to find an online petition you can sign concerning Darfur. Homework: Bring home a book and review for the Night test tomorrow. There will be one or two questions from each chapter. Prepare for your Project Presentation.
Wednesday– March 21, 2007 -Viewpoint Meeting Read about the latest project at the Center for Holocaust Studies at Brookdale and sign a Yom HaShoah Declaration, if you choose. Begin project presentations: (Jill F; Cynthia W; Joe R.; Tom M.; Paul F.) Homework: Sign out a book or film. Read and view. Prepare for your Project Presentation.
Thursday, March 22, 2007-See “South Pacific” for a 2-film credit!!! View required scenes from “Escape from Sobibor.” Continue project presentations: (Andrew P; Nicole S.; Anthony G.; Vanessa & Justin; Giro; and Robert VN.) Benchmark Lesson: Posters from Yad Vashem. Homework: Sign out a book or a film. Read and view. Prepare for your Project Presentation.
Friday—March 23, 2007- See “South Pacific” for a 2-film credit!!! Self Assessment: 4 dated sheets: What did I do and what’s next? What did I learn about the subject and about my own learning style?
