Plans for the week of May 7-11, 2007

This week we will continue reading the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. We will begin the chapters reading aloud in class, and for homework you will independently read the remainder of the chapters and add an entry to your interactive bookmark (one entry for each chapter.)

 

Monday –May 7, 2007

Review Plans for the Week. Hand in any books that were taken out for the unit on Night, or earlier in the year. Finish reading aloud Chapter Five and begin Chapter Six.

Homework:  Finish reading Chapter Six and add to your bookmark.

 

Tuesday –  May 8, 2007

Read Chapter Seven.

Homework:  Finish reading Chapter Seven and add to your bookmark. Think about the significance of the gifts.

Prepare for a multiple choice quiz on Thursday for Chapters Four through Seven.

 

Wednesday–  May 9, 2007

Take a multiple choice quiz on Thursday for Chapters Four through Seven.

Watch the beginning of the movie, “To Kill a Mockingbird,” starring Gregory Peck.

Homework:

Two paragraphs: How is the movie the same and different from the book?

Read the summaries and “good parts” of Chapter Eight (p. 71-72,) and Chapter

Nine (p. 74-77).  

Homework: One paragraph: Describe a time when someone said something terrible about someone you love. How did it feel to hear it? What did you do?

 

 

Friday— May 11, 2007

Read Chapter Ten. What does this tell us about the children’s perception of Atticus?

Homework: You worked hard this week--have a great weekend!!!
