Plans for the week of October 23-27, 2006
This week we will review the correct answers test for Inherit the Wind by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee. We will finish the grading of Book/Exam notes and the Progress Report consultations. We will begin our HSPA preparation by starting our persuasive essay. On Thursday, Mr. Dave D’Amico from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office will describe his work with local bias crimes.

Go over the plans for the week. Hand in Inherit the Wind; receive back the unit test and character identification quiz for ITW and go over the answers.

Tuesday – October 24, 2006
Rearrange our classes seating chart. Make a HSPA divider for your binder. Finish the Progress Report consultations and have Book/Exam notes and binders checked if you haven’t already. Find and read a persuasive article in Teen Ink magazine.

Wednesday – October 25, 2006
Create the graphic organizer Five Paragraph Essay Outline and discuss the paragraphs. Dissect your Teen Ink Article fill in an outline for it.

Thursday – October 26, 2006
Assembly periods 1, 2, and 3. Listen to a powerful presentation about bias crimes from guest Mr. Dave D’Amico of the Monmouth County Prosecuter’s Office.
Homework: Write a letter to Mr. D’Amico to tell him how his presentation effected your opinions about what’s going on in our County.
Friday – October 27, 2006
Read p. 25 in the HSPA Prep book. Read THE PROMPT in the “Writing a Persuasive Letter or Essay” handout. Select Writing Situation 1 or 2 and highlight the issue, the audience, and the task.
