Plans for the week of October 30 to November 3, 2006

This week we will celebrate Halloween by reading and writing scary stories. We will take a survey about the food service at North. We will complete the Inverted Triangle outline and write the letter for our HSPA Practice Persuasive Essay.

Monday – October 30, 2006

Go over the plans for the week. Read aloud the short story “The Feather Pillow” by Horacio Quiroga (orange text, p. 729.) Discuss urban legends and common fears.

Homework: Write a one to two page scary story about something strange, mysterious, or scary that has happened to you or someone you know.

 

Tuesday – October 31, 2006-Happy Halloween!

Write a critique of Chartwell’s Food Service at MHSN, including suggestions, comments, concerns, and questions to be submitted for consideration. Read some homework stories aloud.

Homework: Go trick-or-treating before you’re too old!

 

Wednesday – November 1, 2006

Fill in the Inverted Triangle Essay Outline for your HSPA Persuasive Essay. Homework: Write your introductory paragraph.

 

Thursday – November 2, 2006

Write the 3 Body Paragraphs and Conclusion for the Persuasive Essay.

Homework: Edit your essay.

 

Friday – November 3, 2006

Peer edit a Persuasive Essay using the HSPA Revising and Editing Guide. Write a final copy of your Persuasive Essay, to be handed in for a quiz grade.

Homework: You worked hard this week! Have a good weekend!
