Instructions for placing two photos on an 81/2 x 11” sheet of paper.
Two VERTICAL pictures (for example, portraits, glassware product photos, etc.)
A. Create a new, blank background document.
Go to File > New
Width.............. 10.25 inches
Height............. 8 inches
Resolution....... 300 pixels per inch
Mode.............. (Choose grayscale for Black & White Pictures or RGB for color pictures)
Contents.......... transparent
B.
Open both of the pictures in Adobe Photoshop
1.
Click on the first picture to make it the active one.
a) Make sure that the image is in a rectangle that is vertical in format.
b) If the image is not vertical go to Image > Rotate Canvas
o Choose either 90o CW or 90o CCW
c) Go to Image > Image Size
d) In the Print Size box…
o Height. (you do not need to fill in a setting)
o Width.. 4.9 inches
o Resolution 300 pixels per inch
ž Constrain Proportions
ž Resample Image Bicubic
e) Click OK
f) If the image is too large for the screen press & hold down the Ctrl key and press the – key. (Repeat until the image fits on the screen)
g) Make any necessary corrections for “levels” etc. to make sure that the image has a good range of gray tones and pleasing contrast.
h) Go to Select > All (or press the Ctrl key and the A key)
i) Go to Edit > Copy (or press the Ctrl key and the C key)
j) Click on your blank background document to make it the active workspace.
k) Go to Edit > Paste (or press the Ctrl key and the V key)
l) Use the arrow tool (top right box on the tool bar) to move the image into position.
2. Repeat steps a – l for the second image
C. Use the T (type) tool to type your name under the photos
D. Go to Layer > Flatten Image
E. Save your image file onto your CD rom

Go to File > Print
· You will get a caution message:
The image is larger than the paper’s printable area;
some clipping will occur.
Proceed Cancel
· Click on Proceed
o The print box will appear – Click on Setup..
o Select the correct printer
(for black & white photos choose the 5000 series
for color photos choose the 1018 Photo Dell Laser)
· Under Orientation - select LANDSCAPE
(This step is very important – otherwise your images will be cut in half!!!)
· Click OK (the print set-up box will close)
· Click OK in the print box
To place two HORIZONTAL pictures (for example night photos) onto one print-out page…
A. Create a new, blank background document.
