Chapter 4 Congruent Triangles
In this chapter we will explore ways to determine if two triangles are congruent to each
other. We will be using many of the transformation skills we studied in chapter 7 to
help us to reach our goal. I have a
special discovery activity planned that will help us find the properties of congruence.
(We will also discover that sometimes we will not get congruent triangles from the
information given). Also, I have a short class activity that will help us discover
the TRIANGLE INEQUALITY PROPERTY.
(We might also do this at the computer). We will also be revisiting the two column
proof and the paragraph proof to help determine if two triangles are congruent and to
reinforce logical thinking skills. I have a number of computer and construction
activities planned and a project that involves making a script for a regular hexagon and
"TUMBLING BLOCKS"!!! Don't forget to visit the math
web sites I have been listing!!!

Chapter 5 Properties of Triangles
In this chapter, we will be studying special lines and segments that are related to
triangles: angle bisectors, perpendicular bisectors, medians, altitudes and mid
segments. I have a number of activities planned to help discover the many important
aspects of these lines and line segments. Your Algebra skills will be needed once
again as we explore triangles using the distance formula and the midpoint formula.
You will also be introduced to some very important (and perhaps new) geometry vocabulary.
We will be doing a class activity on the EULER LINE (Euler was a famous mathematician) and
we will close with a computer
activity called Napoleon's Triangle. We will also take some time out to prepare for
the MID TERM EXAM. The exam will cover chapters 1 - 5 and 7. Don't worry; we
have done all of the material in chapter 1. I snuck it in when it was appropriate and you
did not even know!! Very clever
if I do say so my self!! Have you visited those Internet math sites??
