Ocean Avenue School, is a school in a small bayside community with a student population of approximately 300 students.  It is one of twelve elementary schools in the Middletown School District. Ocean Avenue School possesses many indicators needed to become a high performing school as suggested by the Center for Comprehensive School Reform and Improvement.  Characteristics include; aligned and rigorous curriculum, effective instruction, use of formative and student data assessment, highly qualified staff and effective school leadership!  Ocean Avenue is an exceptional place to learn!

At Ocean Avenue School the students are immersed in activities and instruction that encompass academic and social education. Throughout the school year, in the classrooms, teachers emphasize and reinforce the skills needed so that the students can become outstanding readers, writers, mathematicians, and scientists! Innovative methods and strategies are used to accomplish these goals. Student work is proudly displayed in the classrooms and hallways. The school emanates with enthusiasm and pride that can be felt upon entering the building. The staff is truly dedicated to motivating the students to learn. Coupled with that motivation is a sincere compassion for the children's well being.

The PTA is another positive influence in the school. Moms, dads, and grandparents volunteer their time to provide the school with "extras". We have assembly programs that cover all areas of the curriculum and a school-wide play produced by a production company. Reading incentives are offered throughout the school year to encourage a lifelong love of reading.

Ocean Avenue School is an exceptional school where students have limitless opportunities to learn, where the entire school staff from secretary and paraprofessional to teacher is devoted to the educational process, and the parents are willing to help however they can.
