Departmental Philosophy:
The Mission of the Industrial Technology Program is to provide students with an understanding and appreciation
of the design principles, tools, and processes of Photography, Technical Design and Architecture, and Print Design and
their impact on our lifestyles and the industrial world.
Technical drawing is the language of engineering, architecture, and industrial design. It is the key element in changing ideas into designs
that can be refined, manufactured, or constructed.
Industrial Technology is a program of classroom instruction and hands-on experiences.
The objectives emphasize understanding the technical, occupational, recreational, social, historical,
and cultural aspects of the industries which utilize this technology.
Learning experiences include experimentation,
design and specific processes which provide opportunities for creativity and self-expression.
Consumer skills are career opportunities and supported throughout the learning experience.
Department Goal:
- To develop an awareness and understanding of occupational opportunities and requirements for entry into the occupations related to our industrial and technological world
- To discover and develop in each student, his or her talents, aptitudes, interests, and individual potential as related to our industrial-technical environment
- To develop an insight and understanding of our industrial-technical society and its place in our culture
- To develop the creativity, problem-solving, and decision making abilities of each student
- To develop a measure of skill as students explore the use of materials, and processes necessary for a lifetime of continued learning
