Thompson Middle School

Principal’s
Reprinted from the Parent Faculty Association Gazette.
As we begin a new calendar year Thompson continues to be a very, very, busy school with always the focus on our 950 students. We received a letter in late December from the organization, Middletown Helps Its Own, thanking Thompson for again supporting all of their efforts with our annual Food Drive held around Thanksgiving and our New Toy Drive held around the December holidays. The letter is in this issue.
On Thursday, January 7, 2010 we had a re-scheduled Holiday Concert due to the inclement weather in December. We certainly did not want anyone to be injured. That concert (the exact same as the regularly scheduled one) was really spectacular. We have over seven hundred students involved in our musical program and our middle school chorus may be the largest in the entire state. One relative of one of our staff members sent me an email that said, “I have never experienced what went on at Thompson today, (concert) anywhere”. Enough said.
We have started our winter athletics program in cheerleading, girls and boys basketball and wrestling and already have our dates for our elementary to middle school transition. Also, in this issue is information on the administering of the NJ ASK testing that will be given to all students at Thompson. We continue to be very fortunate with previous consistently high NJ ASK scores, and I am sure we will continue to be at the top of other statewide schools in our District Factor Group.
Finally,
we invite you to see our Broadway performance of “Guys and Dolls”. This will
be our first attempt
in years at doing a play. We now have new stage curtains, and a high tech audio
system…all thanks
to “Granny’s Attic”. Performances are
scheduled for: Thursday, March 18th @ 7 PM & Friday, March 19th @ 7 PM.
As
always, thank you for your support as well as cooperation.
