    Graphic Design

Through a combination of classroom instruction and hands-on experience, students will successfully use traditional and digital graphic tools & technologies to address visual communication problems with an emphasis on meaning, form and function.  Students will understand and implement the design process, study basic design theory and learn facts about the life and works of several influential graphic artists of both the past and present. Students will be instructed in the use of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign and similar software programs for exploring creative alternatives, correcting, optimizing, and preparing their projects for digital and traditional output.

While mastering the basic principles of graphic design and key technical skills necessary to produce solutions to design challenges, students will also use cross-disciplinary problem-solving methods to explore the creative, expressive and critical sides of graphic design, visual aesthetics, project evaluation, and ethics and values.
