    Environmental Club - Mr. Jacoves

    Learn about environmental issues, work on the courtyard/building birdhouses and help to take care of the vivariums.

    Meeting schedule tbd, most likely Mondays or Thursday after school from 2:45-3:30

     

    Jazz Club - Mrs. Raguseo

    This is an auditioned ensemble for 7th and 8th-grade band members. It meets Friday mornings before school and plays at concerts, pep rallies and other events throughout the year. We play jazz, blues, funk, and rock music.

     

    Math Contest Club - Mrs. Martino

    Thompson Math Contests for 2018-2019

    The Math Club administers various national math contests.  Mrs. Martino is also available if students want to review their contests and learn new strategies.  Please click on the link above for the dates and times of the math contests.
     

    Newspaper - Mrs. Werchinski

    The Newspaper Club meets Wednesdays after school until 3:30. Students report on news at the school, local, or national level, with an emphasis in pop culture or sports. Students also have an opportunity to illustrate comic strips or pictures for the paper. The newspaper is put out 3-4 times per year, and students actively participate in its distribution. All grade levels are welcome!

     

    Peer Leaders - Ms. Felder

    Peer Leadership is a program that meets on a consistent and regular basis that provides opportunity for students to participate in character building projects. These students will also participate in community service actives and are expected to be a positive role model for their peers.

    Sign Language Club - (Spring)

    STEM Club (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) Mrs. VanFechtmann

    The STEM club engages in building a variety of designs using K'NEX kits, Little Bits, and Tinkercad.

    The club meets every other Wednesday in Cafe B from 2:45 - 3:30 starting September 20

    Organize grade level field trips, school pep rally, and other fundraising events

    Scheduled Wednesday morning meetings and during homeroom around field trip form collection time.

     

    Student Council - (elected students in charge of multiple school-wide events) Mrs. Kelesidis and Ms. Caruso

    Organize school dances and various activities within the school.

     

    Tech Tutors - Ms. Kling

    The Thompson Tech Tutors aim to assist students and staff with technologically based issues and questions. The Tech Tutors also meet to explore and learn about new advancements in technology and how they can be utilized to further members' skills.

     

    T20 (Formerly the Thompson Singers) - Mr. Jupinka

     

    T20 is the select choir at Thompson Middle School. The group includes both male and female singers from seventh and eighth grade who demonstrate above average vocal ability, musicality, and dedication to the Choral Arts. Auditions are open to all seventh and eighth-grade students, and membership is for the entire school year. Rehearsals take place Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings from 7:00-7:50 a.m. Performances include NJ12 Sounds of the Season TV Special, Heart of America NYC, American Young Voices at the Prudential Center, Lakewood Blue Claws, Seabrook Village, Middletown Arts Center, Middle School Choral Festival, and Music in the Parks at Great Adventure.

     

    Yearbook - Mr. Freeman 

    Activities related to the yearbook include taking pictures, advertising sales, tracking sales, designing yearbook pages, making lists and checking them twice and various other yearbook activities. The yearbook staff meets on Wednesdays (and Fridays later in the year) after school until 3:30, as well as during homeroom on an as needed basis. After school photographing of extracurricular activities and sports will occur too.
