In the textbook, please read the selections from Emerson's essay "Nature" on page 218-221.
Also, read the short story "All Summer in a Day" by Ray Bradbury and be ready to compare it to the first paragraph of "Nature" in a small group discussion.
Here is the link to the PowerPoint about Transcendentalism if you want to check it out again.

ALSO - Moby Dick papers are due Monday (B Day) and Tuesday (A Day).

I've added Poe's "The Philosophy of Composition" (with my highlights in bold).  Please give it a look over prior to our discussion of "The Raven" at our next meeting.
Also, Zack Warde found this AWESOME PDF from the Library of Congress; it is a illustrated copy of "The Raven" from 1884.
Here is a link to Poe's Complete Works.  You can also download it for free from the Apple Books Store.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR (AND SNOW-DAY-LONG-WEEKEND)!
Welcome back after FOREVER of not being in school.  And also FOREVER of not updating this site.  Part of my resolution is to move back to this guy and keep it up-to-date.  It was nice interacting with y'all to some extent and I'd like to get back to that.  Also, it makes it easier to remind you of homework and why would we want to do that?  Pages that have new content I'll mark with a "NEW" next to their name so you;ll know there is new stuff in there.
I hope your break(s) were good and restful, but let's get back to work and fast.  We've got a bunch of stuff to do and we'll be in it soon!
