Did you hear this weekend's weather forecast? I am very thankful for the prediction of warmer weather! Check out my Twitter feed @MVS_Principal to see what else I am feeling thankful for today. During the holiday season we are so aware of being appreciative and expressing our gratitude. What if we kept that same feeling going all year long? So with that thought in mind, each week on Thursdays, we've created a new Twitter hashtag to show our gratitude weekly. Please join me by including the hashtag #mvsthankfulThurs on your tweets. Every Thursday, grab a whiteboard or a piece of paper to write your thanks and hold it up for a picture, selfie or video. Be sure to include @MVS_Principal as well as #mvsthankfulThurs in your tweet.
In addition to an amazing staff of teachers at Middletown Village School, we also have an outstanding support staff as well. Please check out the virtual backpack this week for information and the form to nominate one of support staff for Support Staff Employee of the Year. All nominations must be sent to my attention and received on or before February 9th, 2018. Thank you for taking the time to nominate someone to proudly represent our building.
The CAP program for KDG and 4th Grade has been rescheduled to Friday, January 19 (KDG only) and Monday, January 22 (KDG & 4th grade).
All children residing within Middletown Township, who will be 5 years old on or before October 1, 2018 are eligible for enrollment in the District for the 2018-19 school year. Kindergarten registration will open online on January 16, 2018. For additional information, please visit the District website at www. Middletownk12.org.
Please be sure to check the virtual backpack for updated information including next year's school calendar. Having that information now will help you plan special family activities that do not affect your child's school attendance.
As referenced at Back to School Night, our Standard Based Report Cards (SBRC) were revised to better meet the needs of our community, and become a valuable home-school connection tool. Please take a look at the letter in this week's virtual backpack, as well as viewing the Report Cards and Rubrics posted to the district website under the Parents tab. There's a Q & A sheet posted as well that provides background information on SBRC, as well as identifying the revisions made.
Students are to be in their classrooms ready to the start the day at 8:55am. If you child is going to be absent from school, please be sure to call in his/her absence prior to the start of the school day. You can leave a message on the school's voicemail, following the prompts to the absence line, 24 hours a day. When your child returns to school, please send in a note with the reason for the absence. All notes into school are to include your child's first and last name, classroom teacher's name, message and your signature. Please remember that school attendance is critical for learning growth.
