    January 13, 2019
January has arrived and with it a flurry of activity.  By the way, that is the only type of flurry I hope we have this year.  I know many of you look forward to snow, but for now, I am good!  Aside from the two events detailed below, please be sure to look at our calendar for upcoming school and district events.
It is very important that we all the get word out for Kindergarten Registration.  Registration is now done online district-wide rather than in each individual building.  In order to help familiarize families with our online registration, Parent Portal, School Health Services, School Lunch Program and Before/After Care, we will be holding an informational presentation on Jan. 22nd beginning at 6:30 pm in our APR.  If you have neighbors with children who will be kindergarten aged for the 2019-2020 school year, please let them know.  We will be holding two additional daytime sessions for parents to attend along with their incoming kindergarten children in March and April. More information on those daytime sessions will be made available soon.
This Thursday, January 17th, Det. Godley from the MTPD will be presenting on the use of social media by our young students at 7:00pm in the APR.    Det. Godley and Det. Dellatocoma presented to our 4th and 5th-grade students in December.  Please do not think this presentation isn't intended for you. We are seeing more and more inappropriate online behavior outside of school by our elementary aged students. This is why I reached out to the MTPD for this presentation, knowledge is power.   This is a parents only presentation given the depth of the topics that will be presented. It is critical that families know how to stay informed of ever-changing APPS and programs readily accessible to users. It is equally important that families know which safeguards to have in place at home now while your child(ren) are young.

Students are to be in their classrooms ready to the start the day at 8:55am.  If you child is going to be absent from school, please be sure to call in his/her absence prior to the start of the school day.   You can leave a message on the school's voicemail, following the prompts to the absence line, 24 hours a day. When your child returns to school, please send in a note with the reason for the absence.  All notes into school are to include your child's first and last name, classroom teacher's name, message and your signature. Please remember that  school attendance is critical for learning growth.
